Reading Clubs
Reading Clubs help a group choose a work, read it together, and follow each participant's progress. A club can select manga, comics, or book series from your Bunko Shelf library.
Roles and access
Club owner: The person who creates the club. They can approve members, create reading cycles, manage voting, invite people, and archive or delete the club.
Application administrator: Has the same management access in every club.
Approved member: Can enter the club, vote during an open vote, read the selected work, and see the group's progress.
Guest: Can join only through an invitation link. Guests can access the selected work in their club but cannot create clubs, join other clubs, or browse the rest of the library.
Create a club
Open Reading Clubs
Select Clubs from the sidebar, or navigate to /en/clubs.
Create the club
Select Create club, then enter a name and, optionally, a description. Any signed-in account except a guest account can create a club. The creator becomes its owner and is approved automatically.
Join a club
Active clubs are listed on the Clubs page for signed-in, non-guest users. Select Request to join on a club, or open its invitation link. The owner or an administrator must approve the request before the member can access the club.
The owner can copy an invitation link from the Manage section of the club. People who are not signed in can use that link to create a guest account with a username and password. Guest accounts are approved for that club immediately and remain limited to its active reading.
Run a reading cycle
A cycle represents one shared reading. The owner or an administrator manages it from the Manage section of the club.
Create the cycle
Enter a name for the next cycle. Add a future voting deadline if the group will choose among multiple works.
Choose the work or open a vote
Choose one work to start reading it immediately. To hold a vote, add two or more different candidate works and confirm them; a future voting deadline is required.
Vote and start reading
Approved members can cast one vote and change it while the vote is open. After the deadline, the owner or an administrator chooses one of the candidates to start the reading.
Set the reading pace
While a work is being read, add milestones with a percentage, label, and target date. Milestones show the recommended pace; all volumes of the selected work remain available to members.
Finish the cycle
Select Finish this cycle when the shared reading is over. Starting a new reading also completes the previous active cycle.
Progress and activity
The club calculates each approved member's progress from their normal reading progress for the selected series. When someone reaches a milestone or completes the work, the activity is recorded in the club automatically.
Archive or delete a club
Archive: Keeps the club as history for its owner and administrators, while revoking invitations and guest access.
Delete: After archiving the club, permanently remove it along with its cycles, candidates, votes, milestones, and activity. Any guest accounts created for the club are removed as well.
Use archiving when you want to preserve the club's record. Delete a club only when you no longer need its history.
